SCMG 470 - Supply Chain Modeling
The management science techniques of optimization and simulation are valuable tools for any manager or business consultant. These methods are particularly applicable to strategic, tactical, and operational decisions within the supply chain. This course builds on previous courses' coverage of these tools and focuses on the application of these methods to decision environments in all business concentration, with a primary emphasis on supply chain applications. Approximately 2/3 of the course will concentrate on deterministic math programming methods such as linear and non-linear programming and game theory. The remainder of the course will cover probabilistic decision analysis and Monte Carlo simulation. Two software applications, Premium Solver and Crystal Ball, both of which are market-leading add-ins for Microsoft Excel, will be used to perform the analysis. Students in this class will become effective users of both of these powerful tools, with the ability to build their own models from scratch. They will also develop the expertise required to translate complicated decision scenarios into solvable models
